Berghotel Rudolfshütte

The breakfast and dinner buffet were fresh, varied, and exceptionally tasty. The food was a surprisingly high-level culinary experience, and we really enjoyed it. This mountain hotel is a special place for nature-loving families looking for adventure. The landscape is raw and beautiful, and the atmosphere is active and family-friendly. Don't come expecting luxury or a quiet, restful break. Kids make cheerful noise, and now and then the mountain wind howls at your windows. Even when bad weather keeps you inside, there's plenty to explore and enjoy in the hotel.

The hotel has a strange, unpleasant smell, and it seemed to be everywhere. Our room was clean and didn't smell, though it was pretty basic. The building feels quite 'vintage', which wouldn't bother me if it were clean. The sauna area was reasonable, but too small for the number of guests. The floor was dirty, so we didn't use it for hygiene reasons. The gym and solarium were nice. The pool was always crowded with very noisy children, even during the adult-only hours. We've stayed at other Berghotel places for families and children, but never encountered guests as rude as the ones here. Breakfast and dinner were crowded, with very basic choices. For the service, the prices felt excessive. They charge 20€ for a bathrobe, which is crazy. We also felt there was an attitude toward us because we're not Austrian. We paid 250€ per night with half board. Of the 7 places we've stayed in Austria so far, this was one of the worst. Something to forget.

After a full day on the trail, the pool and buffet were a real treat. Our room was comfortable for three, and the price felt very reasonable for such a luxurious stop right along our week-long hiking route around the Grossglocker. The noise was a lot, and the food was only passable. I wouldn't recommend it.
