Buxbaum Beletage Design & Boutique Hotel

We found the price very reasonable, and breakfast was tasty and just the right size for me, not too much or too little. The hotel has a lot of character, and the room and bathroom were both large and comfortable. Water pressure was great, and the staff were helpful and friendly. It's right in the middle of things, with everything within walking distance, yet the room was quiet.

The location was great, close to the old city, shops, restaurants, and public transportation, but the area was still quiet. We stayed four nights and enjoyed the boutique feel, with a comfortable, uncrowded atmosphere. Service was professional and pleasant, and breakfast had lots of variety and tasted really good. Our room was very spacious. The bathtub is in the room rather than behind a wall, with a curtain, which may not suit everyone, though it didn't make a mess for us. The mattress was a little too soft for my taste. Everything else was perfect.

We were a family of six in the penthouse at Buxbaum Beletage. The rooms were spacious and stylish, and the location was excellent, about a 5-10 minute walk from St. Stephen's Cathedral and close to the Inner Stadt. Breakfast was enjoyable, especially the English breakfast dishes, which were beautifully presented and tasted great. The breakfast room got busy at peak times, but staff were helpful and accommodating. One thing families should know is that there are two bathrooms but only one toilet, which is understandable for the building. The bigger frustration was housekeeping and communication between reception staff. We told reception each morning, often more than once, that we wanted the room cleaned because we leave early. After the first night, cleaning was missed at first on two of the three nights. On one occasion we had told the front desk the night before, since we were leaving at 6 AM for a trip out of town, but the room still wasn't serviced. Another morning we asked again before 10am, then came back around 4 PM to find it untouched. At first we were told requests had to be made beforehand, even though we had done that, and that housekeeping had already left. They only offered to call the cleaners back after we mentioned leaving feedback. We appreciated that the room was then cleaned properly, but the handover problems left a sour taste. There were smaller inconsistencies too. Coffee capsules weren't replenished each day, and when we brought it up, several days' worth were given to us all at once on the last day, which wasn't practical. We also came back one day to find a wine glass, bottle, and cigarette outside our room that weren't ours, which made us question access to the area. The door has no secondary lock, and that made us somewhat uneasy. The location, design, and concept have a lot of potential, but housekeeping, front desk communication, and security concerns had a real impact on our stay.

A cool hotel right in the heart of Vienna, and the breakfast is very good. My room was quite dusty and could have been cleaner. I'll come back next time I'm in Vienna.
