I booked through Booking.com because the stay was advertised with free cancellation. The full price was charged a few days later, then I cancelled nearly a month before arrival because of pandemic restrictions, still within the free cancellation period. The money never came back. Emails got no reply, calls went unanswered, and when I finally reached someone, they hung up as soon as I mentioned the cancelled booking. Booking.com first told me Exquisit said the refund had been processed and I should wait. Three weeks later, Exquisit told them no refund had been made because, they said, they had never charged me at all. I don't recommend booking here.

A follow-up to my earlier review: after a lot of calls and time, Booking.com took responsibility and refunded me once I showed that Exquisit Wien had never returned the money. Then they charged my card again. Be careful, I consider this a scam. Don't do business with them.

The owner of Exquisit Wien charged the whole amount to my card and never refunded it, even though my cancellation had been confirmed as free of charge. I cancelled in September for a one-night booking for three people on 18 October 2019. They never answered my messages, and I'm still waiting for the money. A very bad experience, and it still hasn't been resolved.

We got a text at 10 pm on arrival day telling us not to come because they were already closed. I had specified an arrival between 11 pm and midnight as a special request through the booking system 15 days earlier, and had paid for breakfast. We reached the hostel at 10:15 after the message, but nobody opened the door. The host wouldn't take us in and still charged us. If they'd told me guests had to arrive by 9 pm, I would have come then, but they never said that. I was left without a place to sleep in an unfamiliar city in the middle of the night. I didn't expect this kind of treatment from Austrian service. I'll never book this hostel again, and I wouldn't recommend it. You'll be disappointed with the staff.

The one good thing was the location, but it wasn't worth it. We stayed six nights and hated the experience. They charged us an extra €2.50 per person per night, €30 altogether, for nothing. The beds were uncomfortable, and breakfast was poor, stale and nothing like the pictures. Everything felt cheap, with IKEA-style decor, and the boiled eggs seemed to be from previous days. They said we could have one coffee or one tea. For the first two days they were generous, but after that it seemed our longer stay bothered them: the fruit was hidden and the coffee machine was shut off. Once new guests arrived, everything was available again. People kept ringing our room door, and someone tried to open it, so we felt very unsafe. I tried to explain, but their English was very limited. It felt more like an Airbnb apartment than a hotel, with no reception or security. The hotel made us literally hate Vienna. NOT RECOMMENDED.
