Hotel Eitljorg

The restaurant is a real highlight, with a broad choice of well-prepared Austrian dishes, and breakfast was very nice too. The rooms are spacious, carefully maintained, and have a great shower and comfortable bed. Staff were attentive and friendly throughout. I was there to visit the incredible cemetery. Getting to the city takes a little effort: the U1 station for Stephanplatz is about a kilometer away, with a lovely park along the walk, and the ride is around 15 minutes. I often come to Vienna, and I enjoy staying outside the city. This hotel costs about half as much as places in Vienna that aren’t as nice. I’ll definitely be back.

I found the hotel very disappointing. The room was so dirty that it felt uninhabitable, so I wrote to complain and ask for a refund, but got no reply. They also told the booking staff I hadn’t complained, and ignored my direct complaints as well. They would answer the phone, but when I asked for the manager, first I was told he wasn’t there, then that he’d be back at work the following week. By my third and fourth calls, the receptionist no longer seemed to understand English. It felt like nobody at the hotel understood it. It’s very sad. I believe the Vienna sanitary inspection speaks German, and I sincerely hope this neglected hotel gets the appropriate punishment.

The breakfast was amazing, with a really satisfying range of choices. Staff were so friendly, wishing me good morning whenever they saw me at the start of the day. Room service also did a great job. They left my things alone, brought everything I needed, and left complimentary sweets after each cleaning. I loved staying here.
