Hotel Geblergasse

A good affordable option in the city centre. The area was peaceful, breakfast was good, and the cleaning staff were kind. Masout at reception was very nice, helpful, and accommodating, and Patrick was the same. During my four-night school stay, though, the sheets weren't changed and the towels were only replaced when I asked.

The room was basic but clean, and the metro and tram are close by. The reception area smelled smoky, like the staff had been smoking. On our last night, the late-shift employee was asleep and took too long to answer the bell when we needed an early check-out. They weren't helpful, although the rest of the staff during our stay were good.

There was no refrigerator in the room, but the hotel offered a very good price for what you get. It's in a quiet part of the 17th district (Hernals), around a 25-minute easy walk to the centre (Rathausplatz) and five minutes from the U6 metro. McDonald's, doner kebab, cafes and restaurants are nearby. The rooms are clean and spacious, the bathroom is large and has all the necessities, towels are clean daily, and the beds are comfortable. You can borrow a hairdryer at reception, and there's a safe in the closet. Parking across the street in the garage costs 9€ per day. The receptionists are kind and ready to help, Wi-Fi worked throughout the hotel, and the lobby has a vending machine and a cafe where you can make tea or coffee.

It's a basic, affordable hotel, but the rooms aren't especially attractive or cosy. They remind me of a retirement home, and there's a lot of noise from other rooms.
