Hotel Pension Baronesse

I’ve traveled all over the world and never had an experience like this with front desk staff. If you’re a person of color, please be very careful here. I experienced the worst racism of my life, and I wouldn’t recommend this place even to my worst enemy. I paid for a triple room but was given a double, with no explanation. Don’t they know there’s a price difference? The bathroom bin hadn’t been emptied either. Checkout was at 11:00 a.m., but staff opened my door at 9:00. They didn’t apologize and got angry with me instead. I asked one simple question, and instead of helping, the front desk staff argued about why it couldn’t be done and demanded I “prove it” by showing them. They seemed not to understand what their job was. I greeted them, but they kept repeating the same words as if they thought I was deaf. This was the evening staff. Since they were my first interaction with someone from Vienna, I initially thought everyone there was like that. It’s been a long time since I prayed to God for someone like this. God sees everything you’ve done. This experience has left me better prepared to respond if I face racism in the future.
