The room was bigger than we expected and the stay was pleasant, with good value for money. The hotel isn't in the center and there's not much to do nearby, but the subway station is close, so getting around is easy. We stayed just two nights and only came back at night. There was an odd smell in the room, not awful but not pleasant, and we couldn't tell what it was. We didn't ask to move, and maybe it was just a coincidence. The toilet door closed by itself, but had no soft-close or anything to stop it slamming. It banged quite loudly, and we could hear other rooms' doors slamming at night too.

The basics were handled well: the bed was really comfortable, the shower heated up straight away, the place was clean, and the key cards worked every time. It's a decent hotel, not the best I've stayed in, but it does the job. I got used to the room layout, though I didn't like having the shower and sink open to the bed area. Another drawback was the food and drink setup. Apart from breakfast, it was vending machines that only took coins. On my first day I arrived too late to spend anything and only had notes and a card, so that wasn't ideal. The room had soap, toilet rolls, body wash and the other basics. Staff were okay: the man who checked me in felt a bit standoffish, while the cleaner I met was a pleasure. It's fairly near Praterstern Bahnhof (train station), with connections to the U lines, S Bahn and some RJX/IC/ÖBB trains. You can also get to a place with even more connections, like the Hauptbahnhof (Vienna Central).

Getting around with luggage was stress-free, thanks to the safe, well-lit and easy-to-navigate area. Ride-hailing cars can collect and drop you off right outside, and public transport is within walking distance. I found my stay at Ibis Budget Wien Messe very convenient for access: it's near the U-Bahn, with easy connections to central Vienna and Vienna International Airport. The location made my time in the city much more comfortable and efficient.

The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was satisfactory for a budget hotel, the room was a decent size and the bed comfortable enough. Those basics were covered, but the place fell well below what I expected even knowing it was budget priced. The photos and reality didn't match. The corridors need work. A coat of white paint and better lighting would go a long way toward making them look finished instead of like a building site. The lighting there was depressing. The toilet had no lock, and the toilet paper was extremely poor. The wash basin and bath stall were exposed; putting up a drywall around them doesn't seem that expensive. Even a cheap motel with a shared bathroom is better finished. I'd say it's an option if you're travelling alone for a day or two at most. I wouldn't recommend it for other situations, especially families or longer stays, even alone.

For the money, it's good value. The hotel is basic but clean, and the breakfast is tasty. The receptionist was very polite and speaks slovak. The underground is only a block away, and you can park on the street right beside the hotel, free at the weeknd.
