We were lucky to move to another room after finding that the shower in our first one had no barrier to keep the water in. It splashed across the whole floor, leaving it wet and slippery. I think that should be an easy fix, but staying in that room would have taken a lot away from the visit, and we’d have given fewer stars. We spent six pleasant nights at the charming Kärntnerhof hotel. The hotel is in an old building with lovely original details, including a round staircase and a pretty lift. The rooms, reception, and dining room all follow that style, with wooden floors and floral wallpaper. Our medium-sized room had enough space and storage for a couple. Everything was meticulously clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, meats, cheeses, very good bread, and more. The staff were all friendly, attentive, and helpful, and greeted us with a smile whenever we came in. The hotel is on a small, very quiet street, just a five-minute walk from Stephanplatz.

Breakfast left us with good memories, the food was fresh and tasty. The hotel is right in the city center, about a five-minute walk from St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and its authentic old Austrian style inside is beautiful. Nights were perfectly quiet with blackout curtains in every room, though noise could depend on the neighbours. We rented two rooms sharing a bathroom wall and could hear each other very clearly, so the sound insulation doesn’t seem good. I also thought both bathrooms needed renovation, and the pillows were too thin and uncomfortable for my neck.

The hotel was in a great location, easy to explore on foot, and parking was simple. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were among the friendliest we’ve met anywhere in Europe. We had an amazing stay while visiting Vienna, highly recommend it.

The staff were so friendly, especially at the front desk, and the hotel has a charming vintage feel. Several well-known sights are easy to reach on foot. The shower pressure was weak and the water temperature kept changing. One bed had a metal frame that felt uncomfortable, almost like a hospital bed, and our legs touched it when we sat on the edge. Even with those issues, I’d still recommend the hotel.

We had the family room, which worked perfectly for us, and my 8-year-old even asked if we could live there. It was comfortable, spotless, and nicely decorated, with lovely period details alongside modern comforts. Breakfast was cozy and tasty, and the front desk team were especially wonderful. The hotel sits in a quiet corner of the Inner Stadt, yet everything is a short walk away. It made a great base for Vienna, and I’d happily stay again.
