Leonardo Hotel Vienna City West

The room was a pleasant surprise: clean and really nice. We had booked cheaply and weren't expecting much, but the helpful woman at reception even lent us a kettle. A nice, affordable hotel in Vienna, definitely one I'd recommend. Thank you!

Breakfast tasted good, though the room was packed each day and tables were in short supply. My superior room with a balcony had a nice view, and it was modern, clean, and well equipped. Check-in and check-out were quick, with no problems. Central Vienna is about 20 minutes away, which didn't bother me because public transport is good throughout the city. The underground is a five-minute walk, and the tram and bus stop are about as close. A very pleasant stay, and I'd recommend it.

The room was small and mediocre, without amenities or a view, and the noisy cleaning staff made it harder to feel comfortable. The service was the bigger problem, though. When we arrived at 6:00 a.m., we left our luggage and waited until the 3:00 p.m. check-in time, but the room still wasn't ready. We were simply given a different room, with no explanation or apology. We were never greeted when entering, and nobody asked if we needed help. When we politely asked whether we could check in, staff told us to wait while they “did the check-out first.” There was no one else at the desk; we were the only guests there. The response felt dismissive and unnecessary. The staff's rude, ironic attitude and lack of professionalism made the stay unpleasant. I wouldn't recommend the hotel or return.

The shower had a broad opening with no door, so water splashed out onto the bathroom floor. In our room the tiles didn't slope properly to drain it back toward the shower. A shower door would help, and I also suggest adding a fridge and removing the wall dividing the toilet and bathroom. Aside from those issues, it's a charming place with lovely rooms and excellent service. The staff were very friendly and welcomed guests with apples.
