Pension De Lux

We were left without anywhere to stay at 00:45. Our booking had been confirmed, and I had selected payment on arrival, but the hotel still tried to charge my card. We reached the entrance at 00:15, after reception had closed at midnight. A notice said calls for service would cost an extra 10€, which we accepted. When someone finally picked up, he shouted, asking why I was calling and where I got the number, then said they were closed and hung up. The reservation was cancelled afterward.

The room was pretty basic, even though we paid extra for an upgrade. There was no kettle, the WiFi barely worked, and the fridge was tiny. The TV was awkward to use, too. At least the hotel is close to trams and trains, so getting around is easy.

There’s no personal hotel parking, and the nearest street parking is free only from 7 pm to 8 am. When we arrived at 8 pm, nobody was at reception. We knocked and rang the bell, but no one opened the hotel door. We called the number posted there and were told over the phone where to find our room key. Reception was empty again in the morning, so it felt like a self-service place.

The room felt neglected: dusty carpet, dirty walls, un-ironed linens, and very uncomfortable pillows. The light was poor, and it smelled of cigarettes, including in the bathroom. There were no toiletries, and the church bell rang often from 7 a.m. The walls were thin, too. I was staying with my boyfriend in a basic room.
