Pension Lizzi

The apartment kitchen was a letdown for our family of five. It had a working microwave, fridge, and electric stove, but barely enough equipment for one or two people. Several things were dusty or greasy, and there weren’t enough plates or glasses, no spatula, and nowhere to sit all five of us at once. The two little tables were in separate rooms. We did find a supermarket nearby and bought groceries to cook there. We stayed at the pension for the last night of our Austria trip, with two adults and three children, because we needed somewhere before our flight home. The place was clean, email communication was fine, check-in went smoothly, and we found free overnight street parking. The room was fairly quiet with the windows shut. Opening one to cool it down meant putting up with a lot of street noise. The WiFi barely worked. There was a signal, but it kept dropping, and connecting took a long time unless you stood in one particular spot. We had also paid 7EUR per person for breakfast, children included, 35 EUR in total. The owner had asked what time we wanted it, then late that evening emailed to say there was bread in the freezer and we should help ourselves to it and spreads from the shared kitchen. That was supposedly “Coffe, Tea, water, Juice, Marmelade and some meatpastete and bred,” which felt outrageous for the price. I asked to cancel and get the breakfast money back, and the owner agreed. She said she'd pay us cash before we left at 8am, then promised a bank transfer when that didn't happen. That was two weeks ago, and I still haven't been paid. Without the breakfast email and missing refund, I might have given two stars. Maybe three if we hadn't planned to eat breakfast or use the kitchen.
