smartments Wien Heiligenstadt

We were out most days, so these rooms suited us perfectly. They were clean and cleverly decorated, and security was good during the day and when we arrived. Local transport is close by, with frequent, reasonably priced tubes, trams and buses into central Vienna (Wein). There are also Asian restaurants and two supermarkets within a short walk.

The walls are so thin you can hear everything, and the service was horrible. I've never stayed at a hotel without “Do not disturb” hangers. They said they don't have any, and that I had to tell reception if I didn't want anyone visiting or cleaning the room. That didn't feel reliable. I explicitly asked them not to enter, but that evening the towels had been changed and the room tidied, so someone had gone in. This is a huge no for me because it crosses privacy and safety boundaries. The hotel had utensils and even a stove, but they said cleaning wasn't included unless you stayed more than a week. For shorter stays, housekeeping would cost an additional 35€. No cleaning, no DND hanger, yet someone still entered after I'd told reception not to.

The room was very nice, but the TV didn't really work. It's near the u-bahn, though far from the city. The woman at the desk told us there was cleaning until 3pm and that she'd have to check whether our room was ready. She never checked. We sat in the lobby and watched her check in other people, when she could have simply told us we could check in. Her behaviour felt careless and was very disappointing.

I was here on a business stay. The price was okay, though the rooms weren't very spacious and breakfast isn't offered. The location is convenient: the U4 train station is less than a 3 minute walk away, and there's a Billa in front of the hotel.
