Bauernhof Urlaub am Bauernhof - Pension Borchardt

The farm’s setting is lovely, with fields behind it, horses nearby and mountains in every direction. The sunsets out front were some of the prettiest alpine ones I’ve seen. Villach and Klagenfurt are both within reach, along with lakes, trails, castles, the monkey mountain, an alpine zoo, museums and good restaurants. Villach itself felt relaxed, though there wasn’t much to see in town beyond the surrounding attractions; Klagenfurt is larger and has more architecture. We stayed five days and four nights, and the apartment upstairs was bright, clean, comfortable and roomy enough for at least four. Nothing was missing. My son loved tearing around on the pedal tractors and trucks and playing in the small playground. Our favorite daily ritual was walking around to say hello to the hosts and all the animals, from ducks and new ducklings to chickens, cows, calves, cats and rabbits. The homemade farm breakfast was great too, with jam, honey, milk from their own cows and fresh rolls. The hosts were warm and happy to chat or offer ideas. We had such a relaxing stay that I hope my family and I can return next year. Thanks for all the care, and for the lovely conversations with the older generation.
