Haus Irmgard

It was just about adequate for an overnight stop on our way to Croatia and back. On the return trip, rolls from the previous “tenant” were still in the room, and I had the impression the bed hadn’t been freshly made, though I can’t prove it. Breakfast was very small and didn’t feel thoughtfully put together, with nothing fresh and no sparkling water, for example. Drinks are sold on site, but a bottle of beer brought to the room cost €4. There are surely better options, so I can’t recommend it.

The house is attractive and well maintained, with a picturesque view, and the housekeeper was quite friendly. But our room was much too small for four people, and one of us had to sleep on a fold-out bed propped up on wooden blocks (!?). It also felt unusual to be asked in the evening what we wanted to drink at breakfast. I’m not in favor of wasteful, excessive buffets, but giving each person just one portion of food and drink seems questionable. That’s not common at the other places we’ve stayed in Austria.

We arrived quite late, but our hostess welcomed us warmly and even brought us drinks. She was kind and attentive, and breakfast was generous. A great place to stay, including for a stopover.

The view is stunning, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The whole guesthouse is in top shape, and the house is very clean. The hosts are so friendly that I’d gladly stay again. Highly recommended for a trip through to Croatia or a longer visit.
