Gasthof Steinbichler

The lake view from the hotel is stunning, and our room was clean for our one-night stay. We had traditional Austrian dishes for dinner at the restaurant. The employees were super friendly, and Frau Steinbichler, the restaurant owner, was a really good hostess. We talked and laughed with her a lot. She made a great impression on me as a business owner who pays close attention and gives off positive energy.

We found this guesthouse while randomly looking for somewhere with a lake view in the area during low season, and were very happy we did. The house felt brand new or perfectly renovated, with clean, modern rooms. Our Deluxe Double Room With Balcony had a million dollar view, and I liked being able to open the doors and let in plenty of fresh air. Even with only two rooms occupied at the time, the owner and staff went the extra mile. They served us a nice dinner, and the fresh continental breakfast was very good and had everything we needed. The location is quiet, well away from the road, and very green and ecological, even though I’m far from being a Green party supporter. It’s a great base for exploring the region’s mountain lakes. Parking is free, and you need a car. There’s a playground on the south side of the building. It could be a source of disturbance in high season, though it wasn’t an issue while it was empty. Danke Schoen! I’ll definitely be back.

The place was peaceful, with fresh air and easy walks with our dog, and we enjoyed the quiet village. There’s also a small pier belonging to the hotel on the beach, which was nice. The Gasthof is dog-friendly, though the rooms aren’t really soundproof. We had a great time here in September, staying near Attersee. The room was modern, and the family owner and staff were very friendly, even though we don’t speak German at all. Breakfast with the view in the mornings felt special. Dinner at the restaurant was okay, ordinary food, but I wouldn’t call it the best part of the accommodation.

Early morning walks in the lovely surroundings were a peaceful way to start each day, and waking up to the scenery was a highlight. We spent five nights at Gasthof Steinbichler, in a comfortable, cozy room in a charming, clean, well-kept hotel on the eastern shore of Lake Attersee. The views of the lake and mountains are breathtaking, and the setting feels quiet and relaxing. The staff were welcoming, very friendly, and helpful throughout. Breakfast was fresh and tasty each morning, with a nice choice of options. We especially liked the freshly baked bread made by the staff. Dinner was very good too, with a good selection of Austrian dishes in a cozy, traditional atmosphere. It’s a good spot for exploring the Salzkammergut region. There’s plenty nearby to do, including hiking and swimming, and towns like Bad Ischl and Gmunden to visit. We loved our stay and would return. We’ll remember Gasthof Steinbichler fondly and would choose it first next time we’re in the area. Highly recommended!
