The free Wi-Fi worked, the kitchen was mostly functional, and there were plenty of places to sit, plus a cheap clothes rack and a nice shelf that unfortunately wasn’t very useful. Still, Apartment 104 is in very poor shape. The price was low, so I’ll accept that, but mold covered some walls, the living room floor was badly broken, and water was coming through the cracks. The kitchen cupboard door needed securing, and I cleared the way to the front door so the steps could be used safely. The doorbell seems life-threatening, though nobody uses it. The apartment only just works for three people: the couch turns into a bed but has no headboard, and there’s no proper storage for the third person. We had to pay a 350-euro deposit immediately. I doubt the landlord will pay anything extra for snow removal or the repairs we did. The bathroom mirror light was broken, and although there was outside lighting, it never seemed to be switched on. We could still find the door thanks to the snow and weather conditions. In the kitchen there were only two coffee spoons for three people, but plenty of plates and egg coasters. I couldn’t get photos of the silverfish in the bathroom because they kept running away. When we arrived, there was also a broken glass ashtray in front of the garden table, which was half buried in a pile of snow. I found a shovel handle and base and dug it out. Nobody here seems to care about the extras, and it’s still up in the air whether we’ll get a discount. The bathroom was especially unpleasant. The toilet seat almost threw me off because it didn’t stop, and looking through the radiator openings could make you feel sick. The TV and satellite remotes interfere with each other, which apparently nobody knew about, though I can deal with it.
