We really enjoyed our stay at the Steiner Apartments in Zell am See. The staff were friendly, the place was stylish, and it’s right in the centre. I’d recommend it for a visit to the region.

We had a good week here with our two young children, aged 5 and 2, and my wife's parents. There was enough space for all of us, the apartments had plenty of equipment, and the recently renovated building was warm with reliable hot water. There was a smart TV in every room and free Wi-Fi. I’d read other reviews and brought our own towels and toiletries. That seemed reasonable to me, since it’s an apartment rather than a hotel. The location is hard to beat for skiing: the lift is 30m away in the city, parking is available on the property, and grocery shops and restaurants are a two-minute walk. The ski storage room is at ground level and easy to reach from outside. The owners were very friendly and happy to help with every request. The kitchen has an induction cooktop, microwave/grill oven, and a decent-sized fridge. The place worked well for a family stay, and we hope to return next year.

The place is good in general, but getting to the lake takes a big effort every day. I also wish the Wi-Fi were faster and there were soap in the bathroom.

I stayed in the apartment for 8 days with my family of five, and it was a very disappointing experience. We were charged an extra tax even though the booking website showed it as included, and that wasn’t clear. We also asked for extra towels and were refused despite the length of our stay. When we requested tissues, they gave us only two. The Zell am See Guest Card had included free activities on my previous visits, but this time it offered only a small 10% discount. Cleaning cost €159, then we were asked to pay twice that because the apartment was supposedly “dirty.” We’d already paid for cleaning, and I don’t think it’s our responsibility to leave the place sparkling. The cleaning lady also rudely told me to take the trash to the garbage room myself. The balcony could only be opened from the bathroom, which wasn’t mentioned and felt like a marketing gimmick. The elderly owner was very rude. I spoke calmly, but she replied disrespectfully, “Don’t argue with me in my own home.” The reception was nice on the first day, but after that it felt like the exploitation started and she was trying to get extra money from us unjustly. I’ll never return and absolutely don’t recommend it.
