Hotel Tyrolis

The view from the window was amazing, and the room was clean with everything I needed. Staff were polite and friendly, and reception is open around the clock. Check-out is at 11am. Breakfast was ordinary. I’d have liked an omelet and more fruit. There was sliced cheese, sausage, and bread. The pastries and cakes looked lovely, but tasted stale and not good. The hotel is beautiful and stylish. I recommend it.

Friendly staff, and both dinner and breakfast were very good. A nice hotel for the money.

We’d happily stay here again. It’s a quiet spot in Zirl, with friendly staff, lovely decor, and well-kept rooms with great views. Breakfast and the rest of the food were delicious.

This review is 28 years late, but I still wanted to write it. After a terrible last day in Italy, my wife, our two young children, and I drove toward Innsbruck, only to find no rooms available. It was very late, so I kept going and took a chance on the first town I came to, Zirl. Everything was quiet after midnight, but I found an open bar. I don’t speak German, though “hotel” seems to work everywhere, and one of the drunk patrons came out and pointed me in the right direction. I was prepared to take any room, or even sleep in the car, so I wasn’t expecting much. At the Tyrolis, the front door was shut, as is normal in Europe at that hour, but some lights were on, so I rang the bell or knocked. A sleepy security guard opened up. I asked in English for a room for four, and he said, “yes, do you want to see it?” I wasn’t going to be fussy, but I took a look and found a suite big enough for a small army. Then he quoted an incredibly low price. I went back to get my family from the car, and we checked in. We were exhausted, so we showered and went straight to bed. In the morning, we opened the windows to green rolling hills full of wildflowers, as far as we could see. It felt like being in The Sound of Music. The hotel was wonderful, beautifully maintained, with a classy breakfast area and top service. The day receptionist later apologized profusely: the night guard had given me the wrong price. They would honor it for that night, but the actual rate was higher if we stayed on, though still very reasonable. I told her not to worry, and we ended up staying a whole week. We fell in love with both the hotel and Zirl. There was even a state-of-the-art recording studio inside the hotel. As an amateur musician, I loved that extra surprise.
