Faulenzerhotel

The spa and pool were enjoyable, and the saunas were fine, though the spa closed at 20:00, which felt too early for us. Our cheaper room was okay for a weekend, nothing luxurious but perfectly fine. The hotel is well located and has plenty of parking, and the staff were nice and helpful. Some didn't speak much English, but we managed. Breakfast had loads of options and I really enjoyed it, while the dinner choices were good too. One frustrating bit: after our hike, we were hungry at 16:00, but the kitchen didn't open until 18:00 and we couldn't find that information. There was cake and tea set out buffet-style in the hall, but it wasn't clear whether it was for everyone. We went ahead and had some cake, which was good.

The food has been the highlight on each of our seminar visits over the past two years. We haven't had a meal we didn't love, the desserts are divine, and the staff are great about allergies and other food preferences. The team is incredibly friendly and helpful, with wonderful humor and people skills. Even in awkward situations, they make guests feel welcome and comfortable. The rooms range from very large studios to cozy weekend rooms, and the spa amenities are a godsend after a hard day of seminars. We've loved every stay. Whether you're after a quiet break or a place for seminars, I can't imagine anyone beating this hotel.

The scenery around us was lovely, and the food was excellent. Staff were friendly, polite, and helpful throughout. The owner even went out of his way to drive us to nearby Lichtenfels castle.

For a three-star hotel, I'd give it full marks, but as a four-star hotel, it falls short for me. The food was delicious, luckily, but the rooms are old and need renovation. They're small, the shower is small too, and there wasn't a coffee pot in the room.
