I had booked ahead and told them I'd arrive late after a family event. They said that was fine. When I got there around 3 a.m., my bank was doing maintenance until 5, so I couldn't transfer the payment. I showed proof in the banking app and offered a cheque, ID, personal details, belongings, or credit card information. The night employee said he didn't care and couldn't give me a room without payment. I asked to wait in the lobby for less than two hours until I could pay, especially since it was cold, windy, and raining outside. He refused and threatened to call the police if I stayed. It felt like an extreme response, and I had to wake a friend or relative to pay for me, which was embarrassing and humiliating. While I was arranging that, police arrived, saw I was trying to resolve it, and left. The employee was then rude to my relative when they paid over the phone, which was the worst part. I finally got room keys, but no directions about which floor I was on. Honestly, a police cell would have been cheaper.

We had a really good night's sleep, and it was very quiet. The room on level 6 overlooking the runway was excellent, with a fantastic bed and pillows and a good-sized bathroom. Staff were very friendly too. We chose to stay the night before our early flight to Port Lincoln because we're tired of getting up extra early to travel here. The bar had a decent drink selection, and the bar snacks were fine. We'll definitely do this again.

The bed was comfortable and the shower hot with good pressure, which is what counts for an overnight stay before an early flight. Adelaide airport having a hotel right in the terminal is a surprise. It's functional, though the bare concrete walls and ceilings, MDF shelves bolted to the walls, and lead pipe curtain rails aren't really my taste. Brisbane airport, take note.

We stayed in a snuggy room, which felt like an expensive cupboard with the bed taking up almost all the space. For $250, no kettle was disappointing. Even budget places manage a $12 Tiffany Kettle and a teabag. There's no TV either, and since people stay here for early flights, it's odd that the lobby doesn't even have a paid coffee machine. Check-in is through a machine. At checkout, a staff member asked if we'd taken anything from the minibar, which was funny given there wasn't even a fridge.

Watching planes take off and land from the room was surprisingly peaceful, and the airport view gave the stay a special charm. The rooms were spacious, clean, and nicely designed. My only small concern is the bedside tables' sharp edges, which could be a safety issue for families with young children. Hopefully the hotel considers changing them. Service was excellent, with every staff member I met professional, friendly, and attentive.
