Blue Gums Hotel

We booked for five for dinner on 21 February 26, and the ambience was good. I had the pork belly, prawns and mango with salad, and the dressing was amazing, 10/10. My partner got croquettes and garlic bread, which he said was the best he’d ever had. Everyone else enjoyed their meals too. The staff were helpful and there were plenty of them. After dinner we moved from the bistro to the front bar. It was great that it stayed open late, since most pubs close their front bar around 7 or 8. We stayed until about 9:30. Well done, Blue Gums, we’ll be back.

The Scotch Fillet was $56 each, so we expected it to be tender and moist, close to perfect. Instead, both steaks were tough, difficult to cut and chew, and full of gristle. The service was awesome despite the place being full and the staff being busy. We told the waitress, who was lovely, and this won’t put us off coming back.

The bistro had great food and a self-serve buffet. To order a golden gaytime slushie at the larger bar, we had to walk through the gaming lounge, but the bartenders were all lovely to chat with. The hotel itself was just what I expected: clean, comfortable, furnished and welcoming. If I lived nearby, I’d definitely eat here again 😊

We had a really enjoyable dinner at the Blue Gums Hotel tonight. The food was delicious, and my schnitty was the best I’ve had in ages. Everyone I dealt with was super friendly, from the person who took my booking over the phone to the staff clearing our dishes. A special mention to the bar worker who served me. I think her name was Elle. I only spoke with her briefly, but she was lovely and went that extra mile. Thanks for a great night, we’ll definitely be back!
