Comfort Inn & Suites Manhattan

Our first stay here got off to a bad start. When my wife booked three nights, staff asked for a credit card to hold the reservation and assured us they wouldn’t charge it. When we arrived, Kirsty, the manager, checked us in. I tried to pay cash, but was told it was already paid. Kirsty had charged the card without authorisation, which we were very unhappy about. We went to a wedding on Saturday and got back to our room around 10:30 pm, only to find ourselves locked out. Thankfully the place is monitored around the clock. The night clerk said Kirsty had only activated our key for one day. The shower was also poor: the pressure was strong, but water sprayed out from the wall all over the bathroom. That’s our horror story from this motor inn. We definitely won’t return.

I came from Sydney for a five-night stay, but the room didn’t look like the pictures when I arrived, so I decided to check out. The manager had demanded cash when I arrived, which I paid, but then refused to return my money. She threatened to call the police. I sent several emails afterward and still haven’t got my money back. They seem nice at check-in, but their behaviour was disgusting once I wanted to leave or raised something they didn’t like. I also felt they discriminated against people with average English ability. My advice is to stay away from this hotel.

The pool, which I was looking forward to, was closed. They said it would open the following Monday, but it never did. During our first three days, police, firefighters and paramedics all came by. The rooms smelled like pot 99% of the time. Definitely don’t recommend.

The rooms are small, but that worked fine for my partner and me, and I could barely hear the traffic once the door was shut. I liked the citrusy soaps and the friendly reception staff. The bathroom was a decent size despite the room being compact. Parking was a bit tricky with our larger vehicle, a Ford Ranger, because the spaces are small. We’d still definitely stay again.
