Pooraka Motor Inn

The neighbors were interesting characters, and the room itself absolutely stunk. I had to get three air fresheners and two candles. It was incredibly loud from the highway, and the bed was awful, with the springs pressing into my back.

There was no heater, and the only blanket was thin for a night under 10 degrees Celsius. They didn't provide a cup for drinking water, either.

The motel was handy to my friend's place, and free parking was available, but those conveniences didn't make up for the stay. I paid over $1000 for the week, and for that price I expected a comfortable room and some peace. It was my first trip to Adelaide, and I expected a better experience. I wouldn't recommend Pooraka Motor Inn and will look elsewhere on future visits. The bed and pillows were exceptionally hard and uncomfortable. Milk pods in the fridge had expired on December 9, 2024. I only noticed after drinking most of my coffee and finding curdled milk at the bottom of the cup. Noise was a persistent issue. There were signs asking guests to be quiet after 10 PM, but loud arguments and screaming from a neighboring room, presumably occupied by a long-term resident and her children, kept waking us. It often went past midnight and into the early hours.

We stayed in upstairs Room 18, Daniel & Annaliese. The bed was so comfortable, and there was a split system in the room. It was a great stay, and I'd recommend it to friends and family. The room was tidy and had a good sized bathroom. The water pressure was amazing, though the water wasn't really hot, still pretty good. They even have a hair dryer, thank you, Aha. You can make toast if you bring bread, and there's coffee or tea, little milks in the fridge, cold water, a microwave for warming food, and a TV.
