Club Wyndham Airlie Beach

Breakfast had plenty of choice, from cereal, toast, juice, fruit, tea and coffee to more than 12 cooked a la carte options. It was included in our package and served from 7am to 10am, though we had to book. The deluxe two bedroom apartment was incredibly spacious, with ocean views, a king room with ensuite, and a second room with two singles and a smaller ensuite. There was also a full kitchen, dishwasher, balcony, and washer and dryer in a utility cupboard. It worked well for our family and had good amenities. The resort is about a three minute drive from town, or you can walk, though it’s quite hilly. We could hear people upstairs and the apartment doors shutting loudly. Dining and balcony chairs scraping across the floors was especially noisy. Please add soft pads to the chair legs in all the apartments.

The spacious units were the strongest part of our stay. They felt comfortable and roomy, even for a longer visit. But the room faced trees, not the wide ocean views shown in the marketing, and that was frustrating when guests are paying for Airlie Beach views. The room descriptions should be clearer about what view each unit actually has. Service also made the experience disappointing. Our first welcome at reception was rude, and staff often seemed uninterested or unhelpful throughout the stay. The food on site was average at best, without the quality or flair I’d expect from a resort like this, so eating in was hard to justify when town has better options. Management needs to improve the service culture. With the misleading expectations and poor hospitality, I found it hard to recommend this over other nearby places.

We had a stress free weekend at Club Wyndham. The room was spacious, clean, well equipped, and just what we needed. Breakfast at Tides was included in the room fee, which was really convenient, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There were plenty of amenities too. The resort is high up a steep hill, but you can call the front desk for a pickup from the bottom if you want to skip the climb.

We felt like an inconvenience instead of guests, and the staff's cold attitude was shared with several other people we saw. The service was poor throughout, with rude and dismissive responses even to basic requests. We asked for water and drinks to be topped up and were ignored, and when we sought help, the replies were abrupt and unprofessional. There’s no room service, and the place gave us the impression that guest experience comes second to charging for extras. For a destination sold as a relaxing holiday escape, this was one of my most disappointing hotel stays. If service, hospitality, and feeling respected matter to you, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
