Whitsunday On The Beach

The location overlooking the lagoon is great, but the rest of the place was a complete hole. The owners seem to rely on that location to bring in guests and charge far too much, while refusing to spend money on the property. The corridors and carpets were revolting, like a heavily soiled prison corridor, and everything was plain painted brick. The room was basic. At least the bedding seemed clean and the aircon worked well. The bathroom was like a campsite's, with a fixed shower head, and the flannels were discolored and threadbare. I paid £80 a night ($160), but for that quality and finish it was worth half as much. My last night in Airlie was at the Coral Sea resort, which cost £150 a night but was well worth it.

The location can't be beat, and our room was spacious with all the basics. They also let us check in early, which was great. The hotel itself is dated, and towels are changed only every four days, which should be more often. We also had a few cockroaches in the room, so they need to put money into pest control.

We stayed three nights and had everything we needed. The rooms are basic, but there's aircon, a comfy bed, kitchen facilities, an iron, and a hair dryer. Being right in the town centre means easy access to Safeway, restaurants, mcds, pubs, and clubs, and it's right by the lagoon. The staff were helpful and friendly, and early check-in was a nice bonus. I'd stay again and highly recommend it.

The rooms are basic but nice, and the beds are comfy. It's on the main street, with a gate straight onto the lagoon. Given what accommodation costs in Airlie, we'd stay here again.
