Hilton Garden Inn Albany

I had dinner downstairs, and the food was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Service was about four out of five, while the food was a seven out of five. I even got to enjoy a cheeky dessert delivered to the room later. I stayed one night in a non-deluxe king room with Port views. It was small, but just right for the night, and the TV was a good size. The service was exceptional and nothing was difficult.

We had plenty of free parking, and the hotel is in a quiet spot just a few minutes’ drive or a comfortable walk from the town centre. Our King Room was clean and had a big, comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and funny. When I asked for an extra pillow, it arrived with a box of chocolates as a good night treat. They’d also arranged my boy’s soft toys neatly, like they were tucked in for a comfortable sleep. Loved the breakfast spread too.

We’ve stayed at this hotel several times a year and have always loved it. The rooms are consistently clean, comfortable, and well maintained. This time, after our concerns were raised further, the hotel contacted us and compensated us with a full night’s stay. We appreciate the gesture and are satisfied with how things were resolved. The staff weren’t rude, although during the stay it seemed they didn’t fully understand how urgent the situation was. We’ve enjoyed previous visits, and I still highly recommend the hotel. We’d never had a problem before, and while this stay fell short, we appreciate that they made things right afterward. During our three-night New Year stay, the air conditioning in our premium deluxe king room with harbour views didn’t work at all, despite us reporting it every day. At $1,800 for the stay, that was unacceptable, especially with a toddler. We ended up buying a fan so our child could sleep. At first, the only compensation offered was a two-drink voucher, which felt inadequate. Breakfast has also gone downhill since our earlier stays. There weren’t enough tables for the number of guests, so we had to wait in the lobby while other tables sat reserved. That was frustrating.

Connie and Elise made the stay especially enjoyable. They were friendly, attentive, and supportive throughout, and the service from the chef, sous chef, and wait staff was phenomenal. The food was excellent too. The Hilton exceeded our expectations. It’s directly in front of the harbour, and since we stayed over New Year’s, we were lucky to watch a spectacular fireworks display from our room. We couldn’t recommend it more highly.
