We loved taking time to slow down here. The hosts were warm and thoughtful, supplying everything for tasty breakfasts and a lovely fire in their fireplace. We stayed in the River Wing, which felt private, with beautiful furnishings and a very comfortable bed. The twin showers were a treat, and the hot tub was amazing. We also enjoyed hearing about Allynbrook’s history, including the school and its former teachers and pupils. There’s lovely countryside to drive through, and Dungog is about half an hour away for a great lunch. Such a beautiful, peaceful place to recharge.

The hot tub was amazing, and with the fireplace going and plenty of blankets, the River Cottage made for a lovely winter escape. It’s been renovated with real taste, and feels stylish while still cosy, homely and comfortable. I’d happily recommend it for a romantic weekend away 😊

A completely blissful weekend in the River Cottage. Just right if you need a couple of days to properly unwind. Highly recommend.

The School House was incredibly peaceful and quiet, and easily one of the most unique, luxurious places I’ve stayed. Barrington Tops is 45 minutes away. I can’t recommend it enough.

A real little gem. Lou and Don made us feel so welcome, and the old schoolhouse from 1885 has been beautifully restored. Just the place to recharge and chill out.
