Manly beach was just a few steps away, and Coles was right across the road. A short stroll took me to the Manly ferry, then 38 minutes later I’d arrive in the Sydney CBD, relaxed from the sea air and lovely seascape. The staff were friendly and dedicated, and treated having me as a guest like a privilege. I felt lucky to be there. Now back in Qld, I hope the staff I met are doing well, and I can recommend Drummond House as safe, beautiful accommodation. I stayed for about five weeks in 2020, when Covid restrictions kept me out of my home state of Qld, along with some other complications. Drummond House took my breath away. It had high ceilings, beautiful carpeted floorboards that creaked, and well-appointed ensuite rooms with sash windows you could open to the sea breeze. There was a lift, communal lounges and laundry too.

We stayed three times in a triple room over the 2022 Christmas season and compared Drummond House Manly at $170 per night, Villa Mirasol Motor Inn Bundaberg at $190, and Novotel Sydney International Airport at $303. For value and facilities, the Novotel didn’t compare with the other two, especially for what’s meant to be an international-level hotel. Drummond House helps disadvantaged kids and is accommodation rather than a hotel, with backpacker facilities alongside private rooms and bathrooms. It had everything we needed, and I’d definitely stay there again when in Sydney. Villa Mirasol couldn’t have been better, and I highly recommend it. Novotel was clean, new and near the airport, but missed the little things I’d expect at that price. I’ll look elsewhere next time I need to stay near Sydney airport.

The room exceeded my expectations. I stayed for two nights with my family, and it was very spacious and bright. Great location, friendly staff and clean rooms.

All the staff were friendly, smiling and helpful. It’s a pleasant stay in a great spot, near the beach, shops and cafes.
