Anglesea Family Caravan Park

There are great walking paths along the river, and the beach is a very short walk away, with clifftop walks nearby. The bush setting is lovely in some areas, and the wildlife is amazing, with mobs of roos, lots of birds, and other native animals. Staff are friendly, and there’s an accessible bathroom for campers. The pool is solar heated, so don’t expect a dip in winter.

The beachside location is the only reason I’m giving this park two stars. Our “Premium Grass Site” was dirt and sand, very uneven, and nowhere near what I’d expect from a premium site. We couldn’t properly level our caravan. There’s no proper sewer connection, and it’s unpleasant to see people leaving pipes on the ground. For a park this size, one dumping point makes no sense. You have to drive to empty your cassette. The pool is tiny, so the photos can be misleading. Our area was completely dark at night, which feels like a safety concern. The public footpath runs alongside the park without gates or barriers, so anyone can walk straight through the sites. The year-round no-fire rule was frustrating too. We visited in cold, rainy autumn weather, and not being allowed any kind of fire didn’t make sense. The park was nearly empty, but we were still told we’d have to pay extra to stay until 4 pm. We only needed a couple more hours and got just one extra hour. It felt needlessly inflexible. Disappointing experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

We spent four nights at a powered campsite, under lovely shade from the trees. The beach and river are right nearby, though be aware the beach isn’t patrolled. The park was busy over the long weekend, but it’s spread out and had enough facilities for everyone to enjoy. The only downside was the kitchen had no pots, pans, or utensils, so come prepared.

Kangaroos were lying right next to our tents, and there were lots of trees and other wildlife around. The sites are a decent size and picture perfect. The beach and shops are all within walking distance. Staff were lovely, and I’ll recommend it to friends.
