The Apollo Apartment

The room was nice, and the location is handy: shops and restaurants are only a few minutes away on foot, and the beach is just across the road. Towels, bathroom amenities, and free WiFi were provided. I didn't need help with anything, so the reception staff not speaking English wasn't an issue for me, though asking for assistance could be a bit complicated. The main problem is the very thin walls. We could hear people in the next room talking and watching TV, so light sleepers should avoid this place. The entrance is a little tricky to find, as it's on the side of the building rather than on the main road.

The views were great, and it was so easy to walk into town. This place has a lot of potential in a great location, but needs some TLC. The welcome was kind, and after my husband explained that our light was flashing, they fixed it that same day. That would have triggered a migraine for me. We had connecting rooms for two nights, which worked well with our two kids. The rooms were okay, but the carpets need a very good clean or replacing, so we kept our shoes on. The walls are paper thin, and even quiet guests in the next room could be heard getting into bed. We always bring earplugs, and the kids slept really well. Parking is extremely tight, though you can park on the road. We were only there to sleep, and it did the job. I might stay again if it were cleaned up and updated a bit. Bring earplugs, and you'll be fine. The beds were quite comfortable.

I was disgusted by how unclean and unhygienic this place was. There were cockroaches, bugs, flies, spiders, and lots of little bugs in the room. The carpet was filthy, and the skylight was full of cobwebs with dead bugs in it. The bed was hard and made my skin itchy. The water kept going cold and wasn't hot. We arrived late at night, so there was nobody to talk to and nowhere else to go. For the small rooms, they charge so much, yet keeping them clean seems beyond them. This is disgusting. I would never come back and don't recommend it for families, solo travellers, or couples.

It's close to the beach, cafes, and shops, which is a great location. But the service was very bad because of the language barrier, and the parking is tight. The room was acceptably clean, but the bar fridge was broken and the window was stuck shut, so I couldn't get fresh air. The bed was too hard and uncomfortable. The walls are so thin I could hear guests next door clearly even though they weren't being loud. I've stayed at other hotels in Apollo Bay, and Odyssey was by far the worst experience. I won't be back.
