The beds and rooms were really comfortable, and there’s trout fishing nearby too. I loved watching the wallabies come right up to the special “wallaby bar.” With the lake and wilderness views all around, it’s such a pretty spot to get away from everything. Rob was a wonderful host and chef.

There’s no phone reception anywhere, and the Wi-Fi is very slow, so plan on board games and the big DVD collection for entertainment. The lake is about a five-minute walk away, and the fishing room has the gear you might need. It’s a relaxing, comfortable house, with a generous kitchen and living and dining space that opens onto a huge deck overlooking the lake. There’s a well-stocked walk-in pantry, which is handy since the nearest decent supermarket is a long drive away, plus a garden with fresh produce and herbs. You can also see exotic birds in the aviary and wallabies at the feeding spot, where a couple usually came by and weren’t easily scared of people. Good for families or friends. If cooking, fishing, and quiet time by the fireplace sound good, this place fits.
