Terroir Auburn

I was in Clare and Balaklava for a week of work last month. The first time I came, I sat outside for an hour and was told they were fully booked. I booked straight away for a month later, which was today, so I can share these photos. When Dan let me know they were booked out, I got the sense he was saying no because he wanted to give the other guests a good experience without compromise. The dishes were the best dining experience of my trip in Australia. You can read the menu, but you can’t know how it’ll taste, and the food went beyond what I imagined. I strongly suggest coming to try it for yourself. As Dan says in the comment below, he appreciates constructive feedback. To me, that comes from caring about the food and customers. It isn’t arrogance, just honesty. Try it yourself and you’ll understand what I mean.

A host at a wine tasting recommended this place for dinner, and we couldn’t have picked a better spot in Clare Valley. Everything was tasty, the service was friendly, and it was a perfect night out. A real restaurant for food lovers.

The building was quaint and full of character, and the accommodation was comfortable and very nicely decorated. You can tell the owners have put time, care, and effort into making guests’ stays enjoyable. It’s good to see accommodation providers putting in that kind of effort. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re stopping in Auburn.

This quaint restaurant with accommodation is in an old grocery store beside the main street. The seasonal tasting menu has four courses and can be paired with wine if you like. There’s also a good wine list.
