The Burdekin Hotel

I left really dissatisfied. We weren’t allowed to eat our food outside because that was the smoking area, though I personally think the bar woman was too lazy to bring it out. While we ate inside, she chatted loudly with a friend about her social life, saying she’d rolled joints and done coke. She was rude and had a real attitude. Management, if you want customers to come back, get rid of the foul-mouthed woman behind the bar. Worst customer service I’ve experienced. I wouldn’t have given even one star, but the review required it.

The outside looks like it’s had a coat of paint, but inside it felt old and dirty, and the place was horrible. The menu had poor food choices, and the locals’ foul language and smoky smell left much to be desired. It was a real letdown. Now I understand why there weren’t many people there, while the Commercial Tavern a few blocks down the street seemed to be where everyone else was.

I’ve only been to this great local pub for a meal, and it was worth the visit. The service was lovely and the food scrumptious. Get their salad and try the Reef Fish or Chicken Parmigiana.

We booked a dinner table at The Burdekin for New Year’s Eve, but needed three attempts to place our order because most of the menu items weren’t available. I chose the Burdekin Supreme pizza, which was okay. My wife got the 300gm rump steak and was very disappointed.
