Discovery Parks - Ballina

We had a really nice, comfortable cabin that was clean and set up with everything we needed. Fishing was another highlight. With the water so close, it was easy to cast a line, whether you know what you’re doing or are just having a casual fish with the family. G’day Parks Ballina has a relaxed, welcoming feel and plenty of room for kids, so it worked well for our family getaway. It was an easy place to unwind and spend time together, and we’d come back.

It’s easy to get to town by bike or on foot, with a riverside cycling path that continues north along the coast toward some great beaches. Town is about a 4K walk along the river. The park itself sits on a lake or backwater of the Richmond river, close to a beach. You can follow the route all the way to Lennox Heads, though we didn’t.

The gardens are lovely, and the park is well organised, with permanent residents, cabins, and caravans in separate areas. Our ensuite was very clean and came with hand wash, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner, a thoughtful touch. The nearest bbq area was just as spotless and had washing-up supplies. There’s a beautiful pool, a wading pool for kids, and free mini golf. A great caravan park on Shaws Bay, East Ballina. Highly recommended.

We took our van and booked a site facing the water for a midweek birthday getaway. The park was clean, and the kids had a good time in the pool and playing mini golf. There are plenty of walking tracks around. We’ll be back.
