Shane and Pascaline, the fabulous hosts, organised a catered dinner featuring local foods for us, and we also had a luxurious massage and spa and did yoga on the lawn. Zen Beach Retreat was a perfect spot for our annual get-together with friends. We’ve been doing this extended weekend away for over 30 years, and this was one of our best. The 10 of us loved the peaceful beachfront setting, relaxing accommodation and facilities, beautiful art pieces throughout, and the styled villas. Absolutely perfect.

There’s no food or drink license, but you can bring your own food and cook it. The owner is polite. It’s a TV and sofa free retreat, not a resort, for clarity. The bedrooms have basic window-mounted AC, and the lounge has a dining table, four chairs, and one single seater. In the kitchen there’s an older fridge and microwave, a newer oven, and a dart board. Beach views and access are from the main building, which is also the owners residence.

Shane and Pascaline Emms are great hosts, and made us feel welcome. We loved relaxing on the beach at the skylounge and swimming in the magnesium pool. My wife and I really enjoyed the massage and breakfast in the bali hut, and the relaxairium was so calming. The rooms are fantastic, and Zen really lives up to its name. We absolutely love it.

We only stayed one night, but it was quiet, comfortable, and very clean. Having the beach right in the backyard was wonderful. With four adults, another bathroom would have helped, though it was a nice stay overall.

We held our Corporate Training Day at ZEN Retreat on Saturday. The conference room worked very well, the facilities were second to none, and the rooms felt really inviting. The view was simply fantastic. The whole place is a real credit to Shane and Pascaline.
