Mantra Gladstone

Getting around on foot is tricky since the hotel sits outside the town centre with nothing close by. Inside, it’s nicely presented, though some of the reception finishes look worn, with cracked tiles and uneven paint. My room was pleasant, but a horrible wet dog and sewage smell came up from the bathroom drains. I didn’t eat there, so I can’t speak to the food.

The room worked well for us and the kids, especially the sliding divider that gave us the privacy we needed. Everyone slept really well, and the kids loved it. The room was quite dusty, though. When we arrived, the staff looked after us and were very friendly and accommodating.

The room was spacious and clean, and the lobby was nice. Reception staff were lovely, but the food and drink side let me down, even though my work colleagues seemed happy. We had to go to the nearby bar because there was no drink service in the restaurant, and one of the seats was dirty. The morning coffee was atrocious.

I only stayed a short time, so maybe that’s why I can’t rate it higher, but it was a pleasant visit. The front desk team were friendly and helpful, and they accommodated me when I arrived early.
