Bateau Bay Hotel

I live 30 minutes away and still go out of my way to come here for a steak and beer. Every steak I've ordered has been cooked exactly how I asked, not once have they let me down. The kids' playground is epic, and there's a great beer range, including Asahi and Guinness. 10/10 hotel. The photo proves the steak is good. I'm still working through the chips.

A spacious, comfortable place for a casual family meal, with good sized, satisfying portions. The kids' play area is a real plus, and it's easy to keep an eye on them while they play. It can get a bit noisy near that area, but it makes lunch or dinner with the family easy and relaxed.

A local pointed us here for the huge play area, and it really is a great setup. You can sit in the semi-outdoor dining area and watch your little one go wild. The pizza special was great value, and the toppings were thoughtfully put together. The base was pretty basic, though, and honestly those toppings deserved proper dough and an authentic pizza oven. Still, I appreciate it for what it is, really good casual family dining.

The dining room was easy to access and the staff were great. We had confit duck and swordfish, both cooked perfectly. They even asked how I wanted the fish done, and it came out just right. The only thing is how loud it gets inside, even when the place isn't busy. It's noisy beyond the kids' play area too. I wondered if the new outdoor awnings had something to do with it, but I really don't know. It was noticeable, though it didn't take away from the stunning food or the great modern, upgraded facility. We'll be back.
