Abel Tasman Motel

It was an okay hotel, but it needs some care. In the accessible bathroom, there was no mirror or vanity by the sink, which made it awkward to use, and the shower area was so cramped we left the curtain open. The coffee cups hadn’t been washed and there weren’t enough coffee supplies. There were no bedroom power outlets for charging a phone. Maybe next time ...

The only real issue was that water spread across the bathroom floor pretty easily during a shower, leaving it slippery. Otherwise, it was a nice place: the staff were friendly, the room was clean, the shower had good pressure, and the beds weren’t bad. Everything in the room worked.

The location was so handy for getting around the bay, and the beds had heaps of room for me and my mate, even though we’re both over 6'4. We could’ve shared one bed and still had plenty of legroom. The room was tidy and nice, though the sink smelled a bit odd, some bulbs were out, and the shower curtains were off their hinges. A couple of strange things happened too: someone was jumping in and out of my backyard, and by morning there was a pile of chairs and tables in my private courtyard. It also seemed like the motel had a band downstairs. I could hear “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” all night, with some incredible acoustics and soprano vibes. I’d recommend Abel Tasman Motel if you want a budget stay in the bay and don’t mind a bit of wildness. It’s Able, it’s Tasmanian, and it’s a motel.

The room had a lovely feel to it, with pleasant decor, and it was very clean. Staff were friendly too. The motel was well placed for what we needed, with different places to eat and several quiet beaches to visit. We’ll stay again.
