110 Hampden Apartments

The host was excellent at keeping in touch, and the apartment had the things we expected, including a coffee plunger and ice trays, which are often missing. It’s compact but practical, and the north-east views over town and the water are lovely, with good morning sun. We stayed three nights in Apt 7 in November 2025. Getting to the upstairs room means tackling steep stairs. The bed and sofa weren’t as comfortable as we’d hoped, and the bathroom fan switching on with the light was a bit annoying. Still, the price was fair and we were very happy with our stay. Town is an easy walk away.

The views were the best part of our stay at 110 Hampden Apartments, and the price was competitive. The location was reasonably convenient, too. But the room layout felt awkward, and the double bed was quite soft. The apartment needed a proper deep clean, especially the stained carpets that seemed to hold a lot of dirt. The bathroom sink also needed maintenance. Supplies like toilet paper and dishwasher tablets were provided at first, but ran out toward the end, so we bought more ourselves. Checkout at 10am felt strict, and there was no luggage storage. The suggested storage venue has limited facilities, particularly when cruise ships are in town. There’s no elevator, so the stairs take a reasonable level of fitness. You get what you pay for, I suppose. I wouldn’t rule out staying again, but next time I’d more than likely look at other options.

The location was great, and the kitchen area was nice. From the main bedroom we had a lovely night view of the Tasman bridge, and the extra toilet downstairs was useful. The sleeping arrangements were less comfortable for two couples: there was just one bathroom with access from both sides, and the second bedroom was almost a closet with no storage. The bedrooms in our apartment were too small.

We loved the view, and the kitchen was well equipped, including a washing machine. Walamanca was less than a five-minute walk away. We had two bedrooms, though one had no Aircon, which could be a problem in summer. Great location.
