There were nice views on one side, the beds were comfortable enough, and the location was good. But there were lots of problems: the toilet leaked, tiles were broken, and the flooring was unsecured and uneven. The shower was tight, with a broken soap dish; the sink tap was loose, the bedroom window wouldn’t lock shut, and the bathroom door had no lock. There was no toilet paper, only one blanket in the twin room, no teaspoons, and light bulbs were missing around the room. The bed was on wheels that wouldn’t lock in place, the key was poorly fitted and hard to use, and there were loose carpet trip hazards in the hallways. Parking was limited for the number of rooms, and reception wasn’t open during the stated hours. After contacting them for missing items and to report safety issues, we never got a response, including after the stay began.

I post hotel reviews on my ig: bevotheexplorer The room was large and I was super happy with its great view of the hills in Hobart. It was very dusty, though, and I honestly expected more for the price. Still, for the price it was a great experience. 3 stars.

Blue Hills Motel is a minimalist place with compact rooms and freshly renovated bathrooms, right between Hobart and Sandy Bay. I visited in February on a warm evening and left the windows open, but it was fairly quiet. Salamanca Market and Battery Point are within walking distance one way, and Sandy Bay is the other way, with takeaway spots, restaurants and supermarkets.

Great location, but the place was fairly run down. The shower drained poorly, and rain leaked through the roof even though there was a patch on it.

We booked three nights, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The room was reasonably tidy, yet it wasn’t the same one shown in the pictures, and the cups absolutely stunk. I assume they hadn’t been washed properly, or had been washed in the bathroom. There was nowhere in the room to wash dishes except the bathroom, since there’s no other sink. The place felt very unsafe, with a huge risk of someone getting hurt. It needs a lot of work, and we would never stay here again.
