Urangan Motor Inn

Hervey Bay is such a friendly place, which made the welcome here all the more disappointing. The manager seemed unhappy in the job or perhaps could use some training and a smile. The cleaner's expression made us feel unwelcome too. The setting is beautiful, but the room wasn't up to scratch. The bin hadn't been emptied and personal items were sitting on top. We also found cockroaches in the middle of the night. My sister lives in HB and had booked us here for one night while our usual place was full; she came by with her small dog, and there was another dog on site as well. Maybe she was in the wrong, but the room and service still left us very disappointed.

The location is good and the bathroom was decent, but the place was run down, smelly and overpriced. The carpet was filthy, and the room stank of dog, even though I like dogs. A dog, probably in the next room, woke me up barking. We checked out and moved to another motel. I was only there one night and am glad I hadn't booked longer. Reception also seemed uninterested while on the phone.

The location is the one thing this place has going for it, just a two-minute walk from the Urangan pier. I'd rather walk another 20 minutes and stay somewhere nicer than return to the Urangan Motor Inn. We were there for two nights. The staff member at the desk was rude, and the room smelled strongly of wet dog. When we lay down, I noticed the smoke detector had been removed, which made us feel unsafe. The bathroom light had exposed wires and a bare bulb without a cover. The pool was only half full, with green water and mold along the sides. It didn't look cleaned or maintained.

We woke up during the night because the room had become too hot. The air conditioner had shut itself off and wouldn't turn back on, as if its timer had locked it. While trying to sort it out, I saw a cockroach crawl out from under the bed. There was a lot of dust when I looked underneath. For our first night, it wasn't a great start, even though things seemed fine at first for the price. Hope your stay goes better than ours.
