Salamanca Wharf Hotel

The location is terrific, the staff were nice and the bed was comfortable. But the room had a lot of problems: the toilet looked used and unflushed when we arrived, white splatters were on the kitchen cupboards, and dirty black fingerprint-like marks covered one wall. We were told the dishwasher couldn’t be used, and there were screws and other maintenance bits in the laundry cupboard. At night there was no hot water for a shower. Metal screens also blocked the views.

We were impressed and would happily come back or recommend it. Our two-night weekend stay had no real snags, and Room 7, facing the street, was quiet. The mini apartment had a separate bedroom and living area and was well equipped. The arrival bottle of bubbles and chocolates were much better than the cheap treats you often get. There were plenty of coffee extras, quality soaps and shampoo, and washing powder too. It’s just a couple of minutes’ walk to Salamanca Market. The new American Diner at the hotel served a lovely American-style breakfast, and the coffee was so good it deserves a mention.

The apartments are beautifully appointed, and both the service and location were lovely. Staff were so nice, and having a washer and dryer was a real help on a trip longer than a few days. I’ll be back very soon for another stay.

The cafe downstairs was always full, and there’s an awesome steakhouse within walking distance for the evening. My room had full amenities, including a kitchen, king-sized bed and large bathroom. The dining table could have been bigger, though. There’s off-street parking, but I couldn’t use it because my car was too tall. I’d highly recommend the Salamanca Wharf Hotel.
