The Fig Tree B & B

The kitchenette was well equipped, and eggs were provided, which helped since there are no cafes, takeaway places, or restaurants nearby. It's a useful spot for an overnight stay before catching the ferry. The older facilities were clean, but the mattress sagged and was very uncomfortable. The property could use some work to bring it up to standard.

The Fig Tree was just right for our island trip. The room was cozy and very comfortable, with everything we needed, and we'd highly recommend staying there.

We stayed six nights and really enjoyed it. The room was lovely and clean, with a homely feel, and the kitchen across the way was handy for making our own meals. It stayed cozy and warm on a wet, windy night. It's a quiet little hideaway close enough to Penneshaw. The owner was friendly and very helpful, and we'd definitely stay again.

We booked because the meals were advertised, but there was no dinner and no hot breakfast. What we were given on arrival was cereal and toast to eat in our room. When I asked about dinner, I was told she couldn't make it because she didn't have fish and couldn't get any, and that we should try the restaurants in town. Providing the dinners listed clearly seemed like a huge inconvenience. The website doesn't say breakfast has to be booked, though we were told we should have booked it. I found the site misleading. I was also told it had been fine 11 years ago, but they now have children and no longer offer the same things, and apparently don't know how to change the website. There were no excursions offered either. The place seemed musty and dirty and needed sprucing up. The bed needs replacing, the gardens were overgrown, and there was no sea view. It didn't feel luxurious, and the whole experience was disappointing.
