The outdoor dining area is lovely, with little lights, umbrellas, and plenty of tables and chairs. It’s fenced in, which makes it feel safe for kids. There’s heaps of room inside too. The food was good, service was good, and we barely had to wait. A great pub for families.

We decided to eat at the hotel with four of us, and it was a major disappointment. The spaghetti bol and roast of the day were both dry. The roast potatoes seemed boiled and then put in an air fryer to look roasted. Yuk. My salad was reasonable, but my husband said his salt and pepper squid felt like old boots. A scotch and Coke was $17, and lots of people had left big amounts of food on their plates. It looked like others were unhappy with the quality too. We’d already passed on staying there: $184 for a tiny room for one night, when we found a motel on Bribie for $140 with a bigger room overlooking the passage. Never again. Don’t waste your money.

We came up from Brisbane for the day and had lunch in the bistro. The bill was about $94 for two meals and two drinks, and the place was empty when we arrived, so I expected better. My medium rare fillet came out more blue than medium rare, while the beef burger was practically cremated. The salad alongside them looked old and sad. Disappointing.

We had the fish, chips and salad, plus chicken parmigiana with chips and salad. Both meals were excellent, and the staff were friendly, especially Jay. The bistro was very clean and has a huge indoor space, big outdoor dining areas, and lots of menu choices, including a seniors option. The men's toilet was a little average.

Lovely staff, but the food was bloody awful. My chicken parmy had clearly spent ages under the broiler and was so dry I couldn't eat it. The salad was nice, but the chips were dohey. My wife ate some of her pizza and thought it was just OK. At these prices for food and drinks, they really need to lift their game. If there's a professional chef there, he needs to check what's being sent out. I guarantee he wouldn't eat it.
