Tea House Motor Inn

The hotel and its location are lovely, but the staff and ownership need a massive improvement. I won't stay here again. The rude, unprofessional treatment was demeaning and disheartening, and they've lost a paying customer for good. At arrival, staff were rude, and the receptionist looked me up and down with disgust, as if I couldn't afford the hotel or was beneath them, even though my room was prepaid. The next day, hours after I left, I found a text demanding that I return to pay for minibar items. They'd already deducted the full amount from my account, so it felt as though they assumed I'd stolen from them and run off. If a minibar payment has gone through, it's paid for. If it hadn't, I might understand a follow-up. Maybe guests would pay face to face at reception if staff didn't make people who have already paid feel so unwelcome. Being treated as if I'd done something wrong because of how I looked or because they thought I couldn't afford their precious hotel was awful.

The room, including the bathroom, had recently been refurbished and was fresh, clean, spacious and nicely presented, with all the modern conveniences. It was quiet too, with no traffic noise, and the bed was a good size and very comfortable. The place is well located, across the road from the lake and a short walk from a good range of hotels and cafes. We had a positive experience from booking through to our welcome and departure. Highly recommended.

Owner Brent was happy to book me in for three nights at a very reasonable rate, even though I arrived late on Sunday evening after my other accommodation turned out to be unsuitable. I moved a colleague in the next day as well, and she's been very happy there. My room was extremely comfortable and well equipped. It reminded me of the country motels I knew growing up. The owner operators clearly take pride in the property. I can't recommend the Tea House Motor Inn highly enough, and I'll certainly return next time I'm heading to Bendigo.

The staff were friendly, and the room looked lovely. Slept really well in a great bed. I’ll be back.
