There’s a long verandah, a spacious clean shared kitchen, and a comfortable lounge room. I really like these old-style Australian hotels, and it’s a shame there aren’t as many around now, so they’re worth enjoying while they’re still here. It’s not fancy, but the accommodation is good value. My single room had a high ceiling, ceiling fan, air conditioning, and an opening window, which I need. It was comfortable, the shared bathrooms were clean and pleasant, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bistro food was great too.

The rooms themselves were basic but clean, and the shared amenities were nice. The way staff treated us left the place with a sour feel, though. They repeatedly gave us the wrong rooms, with just one bed or one room, even though we’d booked two rooms with multiple beds in each. We had to go back several times to get what we’d actually reserved. They also tried to charge more than the booking confirmation showed and made rude comments from our first arrival. Other customers catcalled us several times, and staff laughed along.

Sam was a lovely host and did his best to sort out the hot water problem in our room. The upstairs rooms are spacious and clean, the food was delicious, and the service was great. Imperial Hotel is a wonderful place if you want an authentic experience from the past. Tell Sam that Mari from Nebraska sent you.

I’ve had plenty of hangovers from this pub over the years, happy days. It’s got a great atmosphere, friendly bar staff, and nice cold beer.

The pub food was good. We ordered schnitzel and a chicken burger, and both were tasty; the mash stood out in particular. The staff were lovely, kind, and welcoming.
