The views were great and the outside looked beautiful, but inside was very small. The bed was so uncomfortable I couldn’t sleep, and neighbours played loud, awful music until after midnight. The bathroom needs a proper fix-up. There was no BBQ as listed in the room, and no DVD player or stereo. With no fly screen on the door, it got really stuffy. At $179 a night, it was very disappointing. I won’t be back.

Handy for the town centre, and pet friendly. We brought a large blanket for our small, non-shedding dog. It was warm, very comfortable, and spacious for two. A bit dated, but well kept and scrupulously clean.

It’s a real shame, because this place used to run like a dream. We stayed regularly for its cute, easy, comfortable feel, and never expected luxury, but this last visit was below par. There were rats in the room, and it felt and smelled like it hadn’t been cleaned properly. The kitchen was missing basic cooking equipment, and the dishwasher kept showing error codes. I emailed the host about it and never got a reply. I’d thought about keeping this private, but since I haven’t heard back, I figured people should know.

A few housekeeping problems kept this from being a five star stay. There were shampoo and soap bottles left in the shower from previous guests, and some glasses were still dirty. Quite a few pages had been torn from the guestbook, so I can only assume others had similar experiences. Otherwise, it felt like a nice home away from home, with spacious rooms and lots of thoughtful comforts, including electric blankets and a great selection of local jams in the fridge.

The sea view was beautiful, and we could borrow complimentary binoculars to enjoy it. The hosts also pointed us to places to see penguins, and we saw lots of them. Inside, it was clean and very comfortable, with a large TV, plenty of DVDs, an electric fireplace, and reclining seats facing the ocean.
