The place is beautiful, and the hosts are lovely. There’s no reason to blame anyone else when you knew there weren’t handrails and could have taken more care on the stairs. Sorry, Ingrid, but falling sounds like your responsibility. Maybe you’d been drinking, though only you know for sure.

We came to Siesta Cottage to switch off for a few days, and that’s exactly what we did. It’s a quaint little place with ocean views, surrounded by native plants and birds in proper Aussie bush. Ralph left us freshly laid eggs, still warm, for breakfast, and Bhakti surprised us later with warm apple crumble and whipped cream. There were homemade biscuits when we arrived too. Thanks for a wonderful, relaxing four days, guys.

The patio was a highlight, with native birds all around while I sat with a glass of wine. Inside, the cottage was much bigger than I expected, more space than I needed, and the small touches made it feel special: cake in the fridge, a fairy light Christmas tree, and proper filter coffee instead of instant. It really is a hidden gem. Even with detailed directions, I had trouble finding it because a tree branch covered a road sign. I wish I’d booked a longer stay and would happily return if I’m in the area.

The cottage itself is beautiful, set in the bush with native wildlife, and the hosts were warm and welcoming. But my stay was horrendous. I fell down the uneven stairs on Sunday night and broke my toe. I went to Lorne hospital two nights ago for X-rays and a splint. There was no handrail, and I found mouldy towels in the kitchen basket and lots of dust. When I said I’d take action, the owner got defensive and upset. She was also upset that I’d brought my guinea pig, even though the accommodation is supposed to be pet friendly, and then asked us to leave. Bhakti, please get your act together. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy there.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. The hostess was very friendly.
