I’ve stayed here regularly for overnight trips to the Sunshine Coast, but this visit was well below average. At check-in, the staff member was so unfriendly that we felt like we should be grateful she’d even made time to hand over our keys. Our room overlooked the car park, an apparent upgrade, LOL. There were hairs in the bathroom sink and watermarks on the floor. The TV was broken, with a cracked screen, and the room phone wasn’t connected. We tried to call reception, then rang from our mobiles. We were told they were fully booked and couldn’t fix anything that night, but would report it to the managers in the morning. Then the shower water smelled horrible, like sewerage. The next morning, the front manager hadn’t heard about any of it, but tried to sort things out. We were moved to another room later that day. It had a lovely lake view and everything worked, which we appreciated, but the cleanliness problems remained, with stained tiles and horrible-smelling shower water. The front manager said he’d follow up with the hotel manager about compensation for the first night. At checkout, nobody mentioned a refund or compensation. I’d used points to make the stay more affordable, and it didn’t feel worth the roughly $180 asking price. I asked to speak to the manager, who was quite abrupt and didn’t apologise. They said they do checks, but sometimes things happen, and offered points because we were platinums and had used points for the stay. I accepted, but it felt begrudging. There was no real apology for the drop in standards, and we were left feeling as if they were doing us a favour even though we were paying with our own money. This isn’t unique to this hotel. All Accor hotels seem to be showing the same problems at the moment. Customer service and hospitality are lacking, and I doubt we’ll be back soon, which is a shame because we used to travel there a few times a year for short breaks and appointments. A very disappointing stay, but common to Accor Plus properties at the moment: higher room rates, less service, care and quality.

We stopped for one night to break up the drive home. Room 107 was good, with clean linen and no stains or mould that we noticed. The cups and glasses were enough, and the king bed was comfortable. The bathroom is small, and the waterfall shower flooded the floor. The wall fitting for the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel had been ripped off, so the bottles were on a shower shelf that left little room for our own toiletries. Hand gel and lotion were provided by the basin. The hotel gives you a bottle to fill at the filtered water station, but the one on level one was out of order, so we had to use another floor. The jug was awkward to fill. There’s happy hour from 4-6 and a restaurant with limited offers. We tried cheesecake there afterward, and it was delicious. Breakfast is available for $32pp. Parking was only available in an unsecured open area. The location was convenient and quiet, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. We ate at the Thai restaurant a few minutes’ walk away, which I highly recommend.

We stayed for four nights and would be happy to return. It was a convenient spot while a family member had a procedure at SC Private Hospital. The room rate was reasonable, restaurant prices seemed fair, and reception were helpful when we arrived.

The location was great, and the room was spacious, clean and tidy. We checked in early before heading out for the day, so coming back in the evening was really easy. A fantastic stay!

The bar staff were great. They even opened the barista machine to make us an early morning coffee when they didn’t have to. But the place had a big structural crack in the wall, the sofa was pretty grubby, and I spotted a few cockroaches in the corridor. The air conditioning was the only way to get air, since the room windows couldn’t be opened. There was no toaster or microwave. The restaurant meals were overpriced, with a burger and chips costing $33, and room delivery added another $6. Five stars for the bar staff, but only two for the motel given the condition and other issues.
