Bunya Creek Farmstay

My family left feeling shaken and stressed after the host arrived without warning on our second last day. We’d come for a few quiet days together after being apart through the border closures, and were playing a board game when he came into the yard and headed for the house. He immediately berated my sister-in-law, so the rest of us went out to find out what was happening. He was angry because he believed the driveway gate had been left open and some cattle had got onto the road. My parents were the last to use it and are certain they closed and secured it properly. We know farm gates well, so we’re sure it was shut correctly. He kept shouting and wouldn’t let us talk it through, then stormed off without resolving anything. He told us to pack up and leave straight away, but offered no refund. Since it was 6pm, rain was coming, and home was a 2.5-hour drive away, we stayed until morning, though we left quickly because we felt so uncomfortable. He also shoved my mother. It was an awful end to what should have been a peaceful reunion. We wondered if he was trying to get our security bond, but can’t know. If you stay, beware of the host’s behavior and take a photo whenever you close the gate.
